Distance, space and time away allows us to do one of two things,
Realize how much more you miss someone or how little you needed them,
I just didn’t think you would have made it so much easier,
Feelings floating, memories surfacing and all the while your name on my tongue feels foreign,
How smoothly the thought of you drifts from me, without so much of an after thought,
Yet every once in a while, I feel a pang over feelings of old,
Why did you have to make it so much easier?
Weighted feelings and stress all seem to subside with the distance,
Confusion and the need to protect you, all were no longer my burden,
But really how did you make it so much easier?
They say loss and healing takes time,
They say don’t expect it to be quick, there is no template to moving on,
Yet, somehow you made it easier…
