Toothbrush

My toothbrush is missing you,
Not knowing when you will bring your lips close,
Caress its neck with your strong hands,
Your fingers long and slender,
Grip so steady, yet so soft,
Moving me ever so slowly back and forth across you,
I am missing our closeness,
You being mine and me being yours,
Missing you keeping the cupboard doors ajar,
Clamouring into them and laughing at this secret game,
I miss the space and presence you take up,
The energy you bring into a room, you laughter,
I miss the way you reach for me and pull me snuggly to your chest,
Steady, safe
I miss your smell,
The comfort of my fingers finding yours,
But mostly, I think my toothbrush misses yours next to it,
